FIRST FRUITS PROGRAM

The First Fruits program is a micro finance program providing individuals and their families with the resources needed to start a small business. This is impossible for many people who cannot afford to purchase the means of production, be that animals to breed from or goods to sell.

A essential part of this program is that participants must first complete a training program in basic business skills before applying for the First Fruits program. A local organisation called 5,000+ works closely with the KPC CBO to deliver the training. Applicants then develop a viable business plan before applying for financial support.

Successful applicants are given a loan of livestock to breed from or an interest free loan to purchase goods for resale. A repayment schedule is created so the loans are repaid within 1 – 3 years.
